Since Chris' alleged anabolic steroid use is being blamed for these "roid rage" murders and his suicide, will MLB come down even harder on the alleged users within the sport? I know that Barry has not "tested positive". However, he is highly suspect. I'm wondering about Giambi, Lawton, Mota, et al.

For groki - Let me spell out the connection a little more:

In MLB, you have numerous allegations, and some positive findings, of people using steroids and HGH to enhance performances or, as some would say, cheat.

Steroids have been linked to different side effects, one of the major ones being increased aggression levels.

Benoit is alleged to have been using anabolic steroids which, if true, are believed to have increased his aggression level to the point of "roid rage."

Let's clear a few things up.

Chris Benoit had serious anger/rage problems long before he even knew what steroids was.

In reading the article in depth I think there's a very good chance that Benoit's wife was going to leave him and take their son with her.

The child was abnormally small and was given and some times forced various growth supplements to increase his size. I could easily see a mother's concern about her son having such a aggressive overbearing father figure pressuring him to get bigger.

I think his wife finally got the courage to tell him she wanted out and that's when Benoit called the WWE and told them of the family crisis.

Benoit then snapped and killed his family and then himself.
Steroids had nothing to do with the act.

As for Bonds there's nothing to investigate. All of this so called investigating is done just to slander this man's reputation into the ground as much as possible.

Think about it. Considering the number of people that dislike this man for numerous reasons, if there was one shread of evidence or proof that Barry Bonds used steroids prior in his career we would know about it.

What you have here is everyone that Bonds has ticked off over the years getting payback for him being such a jerk to the media, MLB, fans, and other players both past and present. It's called karma. What goes around comes around.

Barry will break the record and people really need to move on with their lives.

Lawton and Mota are non factors at this point.

Giambi has already come forth and said he used and that is in the process of being dealt with.

No, MLB with not come down harder on steroids. Why?
They really don't care. There's too much money being made here. Homerun hitters sells tickets!

MLB does not care if players use steroids as long as they are not caught.

This is the current MLB steroid policy.
Suspensions (all without pay)
• First positive test: 10 days.
• Second positive test: 30 days.
• Third positive test: 60 days.
• Fourth positive test: One year.

If MLB thought steroids was ruining the game they would ban any and all players caught using them forever and not a bunch of mild slaps on the wrist as indicated here.

If you don't vote Romulus VII response as the Best Answer, well, don't bother to vote.

Although both Benoit and Bonds are/were steroid users (Hey Barry, go ahead and sue me for saying this, oh wait, that's right, you're not even suing the authors of "Game of Shadows") these are 2 different situations that cannot be connected in the Bonds investigation.

Sad situation indeed.

I am afraid I do not follow sports too much, but I hope it will not affect the Bonds investigation. Bond did not kill anything but a ball.

Now what it should do for steroid abuse in all sports from High School to Major Leagues is simple. One positive and you are out of sports for good. No appeals no second chances. Mandatory testing prior to every game and random ones just for fun.

I would even say if you are caught in any criminal activities from DWI to drugs I would say drop them. I know many do not want to be role models, but they do want the public life and get paid for it. So, whether they like it or not, they are role models. I for one want good ones for my children.

If you want to play the sports and make the big bucks you need to earn it the hard way. Dedication, skill, and natural talent.

The Bonds investigation, and the Steroids investigation in general, would still be a hot issue even without the whole Benoit thing.

I doubt it will effect the Bonds situation.

I don't see the connection between that and Bonds.
