What does being black have to do with this question? As a human being, you can like whatever you want. If your parents don't like you listening to rock music because you are black, well that is simply ridiculous. If your parents don't like you listening because of destructive lyrics, that is okay.

You are completely right; you don't have to stop listening to rock music just 'cos your family says so. I see no problem with black people to like rock music. It's just music right?
If they think it's wrong for you to like rock music, do they think it's wrong for white people to like rap?

Ya, you have the right to listen too whatever music you what. It doesnt matter what your race is. It is unsterotypical for black people to listen to Rock music tho, but who cares?

It is not wrong for anyone of any color to like any music of any kind. It is wrong of your family to try to put you into a box regarding what kind of music you should listen to based on your race.

I think it's great for black people to like rock.
