plotting a terror attack IS a crime, you don;t have to wait until it is committed, that is ridiculous.

cameras didn't provide the info, the driver of a vehicle who noticed the smoke did. But if you want to blame the ACLU, go ahead...lol

That and the fact you can't really go anywhere in London without being watched on Camera. The people also take an active role in it. Today a car bomb was diffused because someone saw a small wisp of smoke coming from a car trunk and took the time to call the cops. The cops didn't sigh and take a "don't worry about it " attitude, they freaked and scrambled everyone they should.

"Could it be because they treat terrorists as criminals, and use police work to stop them?"

Ummm. No. It's called good Intelligence and vigilant agents.

BTW how many terror attacks on US outside Afgahnistan and Irq since 9/11?

BTW, if what you imply is true, then police would be forced by law to treat terrorists like law abiding citizens until AFTER they execute their attack. You can't treat someone like a criminal until after they break the law.

The way the UK and USA do it is by treating ALL foreign Muslims as potential terrorists. That was never done under Clinton, and if a Democrat is elected to office, it will stop and we will be back to the terror filled nightmare of the Clinton Administration.

The British population has had decades of terrorist attacks & is far better at reporting suspicisous vehicles/objects. That's what happened last night.

It also helps that those CCTV systems that Americans object to as unconstitutional, Brits install, because they work in catching criminals and deterring crime.

I believe that much of Europe was placed under high terror alert for several days now. That helps a lot. You also have to take into account the size of the UK vs. the size of the U.S. If all we had to concern ourselves with was say, a state about the size of TX, it would be much easier.

They are no more or less successful than any other nation, They choose to exploit "close calls" as a way to keep the public fearful & on side with the "war on terrorism".

They do not have an ACLU and an opposition party that tries to scare it's public they are loosing liberties as part of a campaign platform....... they also do not have a media that will expose national security secrets for a story.

The police there obviously act quickly and decisively, as they should.

Fortunately, this car bomb seems to have been technically deficient and didn't explode.
