The Wilma Theatre has an acting program. You might want to check with them.

If you are close to philly University of the Arts has an excellent summer program for acting or musical theater which will also set you up with some contacts around there.

As for a portfolio, that's not what people who cast movies look for. They just look at whatever headshot/resume you have. Not a book, they don't want to spend time on that. Portfolios are generally used for modeling.

I can't make a specific recommendation, but you're in a fairly good place to do what you're talking about. I'm glad to see you know to get training. Do that for at least a year before you start thinking about the business end. You're also close enough to NY to commute to classes if you want to get REALLY serious about it. I'd start by calling your local theatres and asking if you could get involved or if they know of any workshops and such. Luck to you! Acting is great!

Models use portfolios, NOT actors. Actors use their resume and headshot ONLY. Nothing else!

The best acting schools and coaches are in NYC.
I recommend: utahhagen.com (formerly HB Studio) and

Hon, actors do NOT use portfolios, only models use portfolios.

The tools of the actor are a headshot and résumé. When you try out for movies the ONLY thing the casting directors want to see is your headshot and résumé. Nothing else!

No portfolio, unless you are going to a modeling agency.
