it's pretty amazing how he seems to forget that he made the last out of the 1968 World Series by popping out to Bill Freehan, hence giving The Tigers the World Series Championship (after being down 3 games to 1).

Because Tim McCarver is an idiot. Thats why. Him and Joe Buck are the most god awful pair of broadcasters I've ever heard in my life.

He doesn't remember it that way. In his mind he hit the game winning home run and doesn't want to gloat about it on national tv. If somebody brings up what really happened he goes on a rampage like a gorilla on steroids.

I'm surprised he doesn't.
He talks about everything else (and goes on and on about it).
Maybe it just never relates to the subject...or wants to seem like a loser to the people who actually watch the games he covers with the volume turned up.
