The Lancet, using standard methods of estimating casulties in a war zone, came up with the median figure of around 650,000 casulties.

This independent site is run by George Mason university and is dedicated to checking the figures used in the media and providing an analysis of those figures and how they were acheived. It suggests that we can be about 95% sure that the number of excess deaths in Iraq since the invasion are between 392,979 to 942,636. The best estimate is therefore about 650,000 excess deaths since the beginning of the invasion. The odds of the number of excess deaths being below 392,000 is less than 2.5%.

Probably approaching 700,000.
The last figure I heard was 650,000 -- that was months ago, and the violence has continued to escalate.
