Since the only way that such an event could occur is if the earth suddenly stopped rotating, and started rotating in the opposite direction, (a change in rotational velocity at the equator of around 2,000 MPH)..........yeah, I'm pretty sure people would notice that. And I'm very sure that I would, since my head isn't completely up my own a$$.

There would be no survivors on Earth to witness this event, the Earth would have to come to a compete stop in it's turning on it's axis, we would all be killed just as surely as if we fell off a vehicle moving at 1000 miles per hour. Those near the poles may survive such an event but only half of them would have a view of the sun.

I bet 90% of the people would not even notice, based on the number of questions I have seen here about seeing the Moon during the daytime, as if that was unusual. I would notice though.

I would certainly notice being tossed about as the earth stopped rotating, and then went the other way. Something about total devastation always grabs my attention.

Wouldn't this require that the earth stop rotating and begin rotating in the opposite direction?

The result of that would be MASSIVE earthquake activity.
