I was your age the first time I used a tampon. I remember it quite well. My family belonged to a country club and I had a crush on one of the lifeguards. I got my period while at the pool and was devastated that I couldn't swim. My mother gave me a tampon and told me not to worry about how to use it.
Using a tampon that has a plastic applicator, like Playtex or Tampax pearl, makes inserting easier. using a slender or junior tampon is good too. Don't be afraid that your not inserting it correctly, as long as it's in there you'll be okay. If you feel uncomfortable with it in, only use it when you're swimming, then remove it and use a pad when you get dressed.
Using a little Vaseline on the applicator helps inserting the tampon easier too.

It can be hard to use a tampon if you're not using the right absorbency. If you're using one that's too big, it will be hard to put in. Some tampon manufacturer's make a slim or junior size, so that would be your best bet. Another factor that could affect tampon use is how dry your vagina is. Some people have found that adding just a bit of lubricant (like KY Jelly) to the tampon can help ease insertion.

It can be difficult, but keep working at it. And if you're not too embarassed, you could ask your mom to help you. It's a little awkward feeling, I know. But I'm sure she'd be willing to.

Best of luck to you! Hope your swimming meet goes well!

Well first of all you may need 2 dry your eyes so you can see lol. But, all you need to do is R.e.l.a.x....Just take deep breaths and concentrate on what your are doing.
If you feel more comfortable standing up doing it then put a mirror on the side of something ~(Don't hold the mirror as u need both hands if its your first time)~...hold the tampon in one hand and put one leg up on something so your vagina is open...OR if you feel more comfortable sitting on the floor...put the mirror out in front of you ~(Don't hold it)~
Open your legs like a frog..lol...weird but it helps...R.e.l.a.x...then slowly slide it in...as you get the tip just inside just use your finger and it will guide its way through, your body slants up just a little so just follow your bodies route.
Hopefully this helps...you may not get it right the first time, but just keep trying until you get it right, if you get it wrong, just take it out and try again with a new tampon.

The more you stress about not being able to do it, the less chance you will have of succeeding, as you will be frustraighted causing yourself to 'cramp up'.
You may need to a little bit as its going in, as it will be a shock to your body.
But you will be fine =]

Even if you don't manage to do this, you wont leak. Just keep going to the toilet every now and then.
Just remember to read the packet for the tampons and do as they say, don't leave it in too long! And don't use a bigger tampon so you don't have to change as often.

You will be fiiiiine! =D

Have a good time swimming!

I am not sure why you would be crying...this guy will have no idea you are on your period, right? Have your mom pick up some O.B. tampons. My daughter is your age and also had trouble with the applicator of regular tampons....so try the one's without an applicator. The O.B. works better for her!! It seems kind of gross at first to use your finger....but it makes it easier for you to put the tampon in correctly....if you don't put them in correctly you will feel uncomfortable all day. Take a chance and have her pick them up for you.

well maybe you can try look up how to insert a tampon on the net..follow the instructions..you will need to be relaxed and will most like need a lubricant like Vaseline or some cream...like KY and lay down and use your finger to feel inside so you know how you feel inside..then try inserting the tampon all the way in..you will know its in correct when you cannot feel it.

First off you have to relax when your putting it in there. Try putting one leg up on the toilet or squat a little. You have to make sure the whole thing is up there and just the string is hanging out. I know its gross but its alot better then wearing a pad.

Calm down.
Did you follow all of the tampon directions? Try using one with a plastic applicator and maybe a slender model.
