You mean how can we defy the advanced version of the basic human instinct i.e. Survival

I don't think we can

Human being are self-preservation minded and even if that mean hording an excessive amount fo stuff just because of the image it gives to the others of being successful and desireable and more sufficient.

Most people are only capable of giving of their excess. Not many are willing to share .50 of their last $1.00. Even among families and it is very sad. Many american are agreeable with foreign aid but are not as agreeable to higher taxes to fund it. It sounds selfish but I think that it is the advanced version of survival- individual excess rather than collective suffiency.

When we see that we are all in the same boat and access our right brain and feel full that should do it. When the mind rules the body, instinct takes a back seat. When the body rules, we aren't in charge any more. Wanting to survive, our awareness can balk when we have confidence in ourselves. "Society" doesn't exactly profit from self aware thinking individuals, just humanity does and that includes us.
