i had a problem whit my 1998 ford windstar my power steering was leaking and my steering wheel became hard..i took it to the mechanic and he said i needed to change the rack and pinion wich i did so there was no more leaking but the steering wheel still gets hard when turning.. any ideas why the problem?

Ask for a shot of Lucas Treatment. My mechanic did it just to buy me a little time, and it has been 4 years and still working fine!

yes make sure their is fluid in the reservoir. if not it might be your power steering pump. thats what was wrong on mine. and thats what it usually is when the steering wheel gets hard. plus they arent that expensive. good luck

Actually the replacement of the steering is not so hard as your describe maybe it just need sometime to get use to it.

Check and see if you have any PS fluid in the reservoir. You may still have a leak.
