Yes. Drug testing should be mandatory. I am going to take your idea one step further because I think they should also have to report to work every to pick up trash in neighborhoods or along the highway, sweep streets with a broom, etc. for half of the day and have a work training program for the other half. The state will even provide daycare.
Right now we just give them money for nothing in return. How is that helping them make their life better?

Absolutely. I think that anyone recieving government assistance like welfare, foodstamps ect should be regularly and randomly drug tested.
If they are on drugs they should be forced to take a drug treatment program, loose thier kids and thier benefits until they are clean.
Not saying ppl on social security should be though. Many of those people paid in what they are getting anyway.

Absolutely !! They are taking the taxpayers money, so I think they should be required to take random drug tests, but I think they should ALSO be provided drug treatment and counselling.
I did 15 years in the Navy, taking the Taxpayers dime, and I was random-drug-tested probably 200 times during that period. I had no problem participating in Operation Golden-Flow.
Now if you WANT to take illegal drugs... don't take MY tax-dollars !

Yeah, let's add another whole layer of bureaucracy and expense to an already inefficient and paper-clogged system!!
How about mandating that all cars and trucks sold in the US be outfitted with breathalyzers? It'd only cost another thou$and or two per car, and think of the benefits to public safety if cars just wouldn't even start if he driver had been drinking......
Or is it only poor people you want to put through additional hassles and expense? Don't tell me that other people in their cars are none of your business; we all drive on the same public roads......

Yes... Those recipients of any welfare program should be available for public scrutiny as forced contributers should have the right to observe an open investigation.
OK Brian, Marxist... Here's one we agree on.

Yes. I also think people on welfare should be forced to move a two ton pile of rocks shovel load by shovel load from one spot to another spot ten yards away. When they are done they move the pile back to its original spot. Repeat over and over until the leech is no longer on the taxpayer teet.
No one, absolutely no one, should be allowed to collect a check and sit on their azz.

I think that's an excellent question. If someone had to go on welfare I would like to know if they will have a clear mind to find work.

I agree. Anybody receiving federal money should be drug tested.
So lets start with the CEO's and board members of the airlines, energy companies, etc. Since their companies all receive federal corporate welfare. Don't forget about the family farmers who get subsidies as well.

Great idea. Why should tax payers support someones drug habit. Since we have it, it should be designed as a helping hand only.
