i take it your a yank below the mason-dixon line like me if your hosting the party spice up all the food cover it with butter and white gravy and you should do just fine.....
my first barbacque here there was a whole pig on a stake roasting over a fire i could not believe it , i had trouble understanding everybody (i forgot my yankee to dixie dictonary) and was introduced around as "sarah the yankee" shoot i didn't even realize i was a yankee till that moment collard greens ,okra,and the smell of a roasting pig still make me slightly queasy but i am now accostomed to the southern ways it took about 5 years but it gets better just try to add the rest of the word if you want to understand some of these people like "ga ta da sta" in our language thats "i'm going to the store" or "yall fixrn ta yet" in yank it's "are you ready to eat " or my favorite southern saying of all times "ya ant frm her ah ya " in yank "your new to town i believe"

I don't know about possum but you gotta have potato salad and southerners eat snake, gator the possibilities are endless. Baked beans, pecan pie, homemade biscuits, coleslaw, PORK for sure, and DEFINITELY red velvet cake. I'm from the south and so is all of my family (GA) and those are the MUST HAVE items for a southern BBQ. Oh Mom just said you have to make possum stew just like you would a regular stew but with milk gravy. There should be some recipes on the net. Have fun, Do cow tipping and go mudding. P.S. Don't forget to play horse shoes. (;

That's not a possum honey. That's a warthog. We don't eat those. We are putting a pig on anyway. You better stay inside until we get it all cleaned up. It's not a pretty sight. We brought the moonshine. That's all you need to know. Just sip on that and relax. We'll take care of the rest. ♥

Yep. Just be sure to marinate it in some "Dales" and Italian Dressing. And also be sure to remove all the hair---like you would a goat. There's just something about biting into a good ole' possum and hitting a hair that's a bit unsettling to the belly.

Be sure to put some laundry on the clothesline and some tires in the front yard. Oh and on a more serious note, it's really good if you coat chicken or pork chops with mustard and brown sugar before grilling them.

A *southern* cookout?

Don't forget:

-the pink plastic flamingos on the lawn
-boombox blasting the latest Tim McGraw, Toby Keith & Big & Rich tunes.

-Confederate flag proudly displayed on rear (& front) of pick-up. (right next to the NRA sticker)

We're ain't havin no possum honey, we havin' us a big ole pig roast, dig a hole we'll but that bastage in the ground. I'm also bringing a wild turkey to put in the deep fryer, I killed it myself. Ever had deep fried turkey? It's about as orgasmic as you can get. I don't drink moonshine, just get us a trash can, we'll have Hooch.

it's kinda oily so have yourself a water bottle by the grill to put out fires. The woman who has her first drink at 8am is the one you need to look out for.
