Speaking from experience, I had the depo provera shot when I was 16 vuntil I was 19 and it is the absolute worse kind of BC there is.I gained sooooo much weight and it was hard as hell to get it off. Also it cause me to have terrible stomach cramps and it was almost unbearable so tell your man to kiss it hon.For real U can do so much better than that.If he doesn't want to use a condom then just end it because U don't deserve to go through the pain and anguish of that shot.I've been there and it's no fun!!!Good Luck!!

Hi there....I had the depo shot a few years ago. For some women it's great. For me, it wasn't. After I got the shot, I basically bled for 3 months straight. It actually brought on my period and it didn't go away for 3 months. That was a side effect of the shot. Your b/f is wrong to tell you to do this. He just doesn't want to wear condom. Just for that reason alone, I would'nt trust him, depo shot prevents pregnancy, not STD's. Chances are, if he doesn't like condoms, then he hasn't used them with other partners. Even if you do decide to get the depo shot, and he doesn't want to use condoms, I would make him get tested. Good Luck!

Sounds like that your bf is a major A hole. You are right its your body and YOU should do with it what you want. If you dont want to take the depo shot then don't. Sounds to me that he just wants have sex with you without protection and that sounds fishy to me.

If he doesn't respect your decision about protected sex then hunny, sorry to say, but i think you should dump him. You deserve someone who will respect you in every way. Get rid of that loser and find someone who will respect every decision you make about your own body

Good luck and kudos for you for remaining to have safe sex, cause who knows what could happen

Drop his ***! He sounds too immature for you anyways! If any guy is not willing to care for your body the way you do.. then he needs to kick rocks. He just has no respect for you.. you are a big girl and can make your own decisions.. there are so many guys out there who are so much better than this guy. Dont force yourself to be in a situation in which you may get pregnant with a guy he treats you like his property!!! RUN AND FAST!! :)

What a jerk!

And, uh, I tried Depo back in college. I absolutely hated it. I had spotting every single day, I gained weight, and much of my hair fell out!

Please dump that guy. I'm sure he'll have some new ultimatum for you next week.

i think that it is time you be the bigger person in this deal and tell him that its either you or nothin at all. if he cant accept the fact that you dont want to do somethin then he needs to go.. its your body and life not his... you do what you want with it, not him.. so if he has a problem with your decision then there is something wrong with him.. not you. i know that would be a hard decision to make but its your life so you choose how to live it. i hope that everything works out for you two for the better.

You are correct in not wanting that shot.

He has no right to pressure you into taking a drug you do NOT want in your body.

He is being disrespectful.

Since he is unwavering in his demands I would break it off with him, as it sounds like he does not love you enough to let you make a decision about your body and your health.

no this is your body, and don't let a man tell you what to do. but on the other hand i'm pretty sure he doesn't want kids right now that is. why not try pills, then that way you will be comparmising with him, not just giving in to something you don't want. i take pills that allow me to have a perios every 3 months it's great!!!, also explain to him the the shot makes you gain wieght! no girl wants to gain! the pills i take are called seasonal, or seasonque, one is the generic. mention this to your doctor, plus no one wants a shot! good luck

dump him - he's not the one who has to deal with the horrible, life-threatening side effects.
Does he know sometimes depot sometimes causes you to have your period for weeks or months at a time? That'll make him think twice!
Maybe you should be open to taking a pill form - they're usually much safer. Maybe something like Ortho Cyclen?
He's right that you should be safe, but he should also be willing to do his part. BCP's aren't always effective, tell him you'll take the pill but he still has to wear a rain jacket if he wants to come out and play.
Sounds like a compromise to me. If he doesn't like it, tell him to get lost
