To your Midol, add a heating pad and chocolate Lindor truffles.

Midol contains acetaminophen (Tylenol); caffeine; pyrilamine maleate (a diuretic, which helps bloating); and pamabrom, a mild muscle relaxant.

The "cramps" Midol also contains ibuprofen (Motrin).

"Maximum Strength" Midol also contains naproxen sodium (Aleve).

Naproxen sodium (Aleve) lowers prostaglandin in your body. Prostaglandin is the primary cause of cramps.

Short answer: Try Aleve (brand name or generic). Aleve was once prescription only; doctors and nurses used to call it "the magic blue pill".

Use ibuprofen or naproxen in a prescriptioni strength dosage. If you are not sure what that would be then ask someone. If that doesn't help try a heating pad or warm bath. If these tips don't work then see your doc as you may have something called endometriosis. The doc can also prescribe things to help if you don't have endo.

i used to lay in a tub of hot water. Sometimes it works. but the doctor told me to exercise. The cramp is a clot and once it passes the pain will stop. Exercise will help work it out, that what the doctor told me.
Also, birth control pills help with cramps.

Try some strong peppermint tea and a hot water bottle. Best is peppermint root bought in a health food store. Best also to stretch rather than roll up in a ball although rolling up comes more naturaly when in pain. Been there...depending on your age, your Dr. could even give you a very low dose birth control although I am dead set against them, they helped me for a few months when I was younger (17).

Cranberry juice, bananas, constant showers, try baths a lot...nice warm ones.

Don't take Midol too constantly though...I know it makes a lotta people go nuts sometimes.

And also exercise regularly.

Best of Luck,
Sophie
