my site new domain name wont work and has caused my other sites on my server to stop working.

i decided to change my website name, i redirected my old url name to my new one, the only thing is my new domain name isn't working, it hasn't been 24 hours yet, but usually as i have my own server the change over of names happens usually in a few hours.

i no i should wait a few more hours however i cant understand my the othersites keep getting cant find server on them.

what could be the reason for this?

If, like me, you have a domain registrar company different from the hosting company, you have to:
(1) set the dns pointers for both domain names at the registrar end to point to the hosting company's server! ... one may be an "alias" or "url-forward" for the other, unless you're discontinuing the other, altogether... and
(2) at the hosting company's end, make sure their server knows who's url will be pointing to the hosted space: for example, on mine, I set up, say, one "owning" domain, and one "parked" domain, whereby, both urls may be directed to the same spot, and YOU are responsible for somehow handling in your files a means of handling which domain is handled when a url call arrives at your hosted files... My host company ALSO offers a thing called an "add-on" domain where-by an extra domain gets its own "folder" so's two domains get their own space, and the HOST directs the url appropriately...

At any rate, YOU must take steps to make arrangements for registrar AND for host!

The other sites are not coming up because you redirected them to the new one...LOL.

Just a question... when you say you have your own server and changed them over... have you registered the Name Servers (your NS/NS2 IPs) with the place you bought the domain from? You should have to do that.
