If you've lost your driver cd, you should be able to download the driver from the sound card manufacturer's website. Creative is one of the best and one of the most popular sound card manufacturers. So if you have a sound card by Creative, go here: http://www.creative.com/language.asp?sDestUrl=/support/downloads
Now you will be asked to identify your product. How would you know which sound card is nesting in your PC? Well, you should open the PC's casing up, but not before shutting your PC down and disconnecting your power plug. Inside you will be able to spot your sound card quite easily. It will be the circuit board where you connect your speakers externally. Now the card usually bears its exact name, but this might be obstructed by, say your graphic card. Get a small torch and beam it on the card. On the sound blaster live 5.1, the name is written under the sound card, in gold lettering. It might be the case with other sound cards as well. Be careful as to avoid touching your motherboard or any card for that matter. I wouldn't advise you to go as far as removing the card. Any mishandling (e.g touching the circuit) could be enough to damage your sound card.
