You mean bipartisanship? If it ever happened, the war would be over in months. Ain't happening though. Those in Congress think bickering gets them votes. Thats why poeple rate Congress the lowest in history.

Well depends on how long it will take their Senators and State reps to enlist in the military.
You can demand all you want but at the end of the day its the military man who has to put his life on the line for his country and not some politico.
I doubt if there ever was gonna be any combat related deaths and injuries fighting for or against the "Immigration Bill"

Well, how would you define victory? At this point, it would have to be when there are no more insurgent attacks. And, since the insurgents will continue to attack as long as we're there, and they will come into Iraq from other countries if they have to, then victory can never happen, unless we just nuke the whole region, leaving it lifeless. Is that what you had in mind?

We have demanded that they bring our troops home according to a very modest time line and it FAILED. I would love to start a new petition to do just that. I am sick of the war that kills 10 to 15 American soldiers per day on average and the Iraqis don't want our presence in Iraq any more. OK, fine, so lets get our troops home to their country and their families alive and NOT in an flag-covered oak box! Today is a good day to start such a petition!

We already won in Iraq. Maybe you missed it but Saddam fell and broke his neck. He died. Our reason for being there has been fulfilled. Now our presence is the only thing keeping thousands of innocent civilians from being murdered by the insurgents. If every person in the US would write their representative it wouldn't make one difference in the world.
Try talking to an insurgent like you would the congressmen and see what it gets you. My guess you'd be dead in no time.

Around 50 years with the number of soldiers the US has in Iraq right now.
If we increased the amount to over 1,000,000 and turned the country into a dictorial police state, where the people had no rights, we could win in less than 5.

I dare say, it would take a long time. Is the surge working? hard to tell. do the Iraqis REALLY want it? I doubt it. Until the Iraqi military gets its act together, its going to be a long time. Just by "floating the balloon" that they were goin to take a 2 month "vacation" shows that they are not serious.
