I set up parental control password to block a site from my home computer. I can't remember it, and I would like to unblock the site. Can anyone help....?

I am the parent....and apparently have lost the password.

my partner is a computer engineer and he says the only way to get around this problem is to re-install Windows on your computer and write the new password down somewhere.
alternately if you know how to when you switch on the computer you press the F8 key and it then goes into safe mode and then go into administrator and delete the old password and put in a new one.

Ask your parents that set it ?
When setting a password for somthing critical it does help to remember it
