I think if they were smart they would run like heck. I can't imagine anyone would take the position of Vice President to Bushie.

What makes you think Cheney is going to be "let go"? There has been no hint that this is going to happen... short of Cheney dying in office, I think its almost inevitable that Cheney will finish out his term as VP, afterall there's only a year and a half left anyway.

Anyway, with the way the GOP has been moving away from the administration, I doubt any of the current candidates would want to be connected to the Bush Administration, or would have the time for it, given the way the campaigns are going this early on...

No way is Cheney resigning. That would almost be like admitting he'd done something wrong. I mean, we all KNOW that Bush and Cheney and co. are up to no good, but they don't think we know. I mean, at least those of us who are paying attention and who don't put party loyalty above what's best for the Country know that Bush and Cheney are no good. The MOST AMERICAN thing you can do is hold our elected officials accountable. ASK Questions, DEMAND Answers!

I've heard rightwing pundits predicting that Cheney is due for another heart procedure and will use that as an excuse to give up the vice presidency. Even Cheney does not want to have a legacy of being unable to win a war.

Bush wouldn't nominate any of the current candidates.. He's been itching to give Rove more power, he would nominate him... And given the current state of congress, they probably wouldn't support anyone Bush would nominates anyway since it's a 'get nothing done' congress...

Just my opinion.. But I also agree that Bush would never let Cheney resign or get fired...

Fred Thompson

And it would help the GOP immensely to get rid of Dick Cheney, who, with a 15% approval rating is a lead anchor on the Administration.

He won't leave.

However, for the sake of argument let us presume that he does, for whatever reason. Bush's best options would be to go for Thompson or to get on his knees and beg Colin Powell to become interim VP.

Well, I think that's a decision President Bush will have to make. But I doubt it will come to that.

McCain would love to run as VP. He is more a cheerleader than the president.

The President will never fire nor allow Cheney to resign. Not going to happen.
