MATB1 CERTIFICATE
Sometime between the second and the third trimester, you will be issued with a matB1 certificate.
This certificate is given to you by your midwife and includes your estimated due date(EDD).
You will need to give this certificate to the human resources/personnel department in your office.

Government guidelines are that you can get your MATB1 from 20 weeks from either your doctor or your midwife.
The Department for Work and Pensions website has the details at http://www.dwp.gov.uk/medical/hot2.asp
I am on my second pregnancy (currently 29 weeks) and received my MATB1 at my 20 week check-up each time.
If you need your MATB1 for work then make sure you get your midwife or doctor to give you one when it suits you (post 20 weeks obviously) and not when it suits them. Getting a MATB1 at 25+ weeks is too late for most employers.
Hope this helps

I just got mine at my last midwife check-up, so 31 weeks. However I was told by the midwife that anytime after 28 weeks is usually the norm.
Best of luck !!

I seem to remember you get given them by midwife/doctor after you are 20 weeks pregnant.

You ask your doctor at 20 weeks, then you give it to your employer along with a letter stating when you wish to start maternity leave by 25 weeks.
