You've had no answers so I'll give it a poke. Science refers to facts, intellect infers emotional opinion. So I think it could be about that which we feel but can not scientifically prove. You ask what I think of this saying. I like it. It's deep. To me it means what stands confident as fact fears that which has not yet been realized.
