I am a huge Cardinal fan, but live closer to Milwaukee so actually probably follow them equally.
If the Cards could do it last year, than there is no reason the Brewers can't. The Mets and Padres will be tough, but here is why I think they have as good a shot as anyone.
1) Barring a surge from the Cubs or Cardinals, they will win the division by enough of a margin that they will be able to set their rotation in the playoffs the way they want.
2) They have a solid bullpen, and I am confident they will trade to get one more lefty down there. They also have starters who can go deep into games.
3) They have a good mix of veterans and young players having career years offensively.
4) They have a solid bench
5) It will be tough for teams to come into Miller Park and steal one - they have the best home record in the league.
6) My concerns would be their lack of postseason experience, which can at times be overrated, and their infield defense. Estrada, Weeks, and Braun are all below average and Fielder is average at best. In the playoffs you can't give teams extra outs.
But it will be fun to watch. Of course, I am still hoping the Cards can pull off a miracle.

And the Cubs have been around how much longer than the Brewers? The Brewers at least have made it to a WS in the last 65 years unlike the Cubs. Oh to answer your question, they'll win several before the Cubs do.

I can't see it happening. It would be a great thing, but I see them falling short. Their youth and entusiasm will be enough to maybe get them to the NLDS, but that's it.
Don't forget the 1982 Brewers only had to win 1 round to make the World Series (over the Angels 3-2). And they won 6 games overall, and finished 1 short of being champs. Now, they'd have to win 7 games just to make the series. It's a lot tougher. With their young, inexperienced players I see them falling just short of making the WS.

I think they will make the playoffs but the World Series is a stretch. They are a very young team and have no playoff run or playoff experience. They could be like my 2005 Indians who lost 6 of the last 7 games and missed the playoffs by 1. Experience is a big factor and if they can get over that hump they have a shot.

25 years removed from 1982, seems like the Brewers time to shine.

If they can get to the playoffs they certainly have a chance. They have a lot of young players that are playing very well right now and it might be difficult to keep up the pace. It would not shock me to see the Cubs and/or the Cardinals make a run at them but they really are a fun team to watch. Did you see the head first slide from Fielder the other day, thank goodness he can hit because his ground game is lacking.

No they can't. For the simple reason that when October comes it's all about pitching. The brew crew have a great lineup, but no pitching. Cardinal rule, good pitching always beats good hitting

They will make the playoffs yes but i doubt theyll get past the 1st round because they have showed it this year that they cannot compete against the good teams...loosing 2/3 from the mets, 2/3 from the cubs and 2/3 from the dodgers..come on ! the only good team they have beaten this season were the tigers..barely.

Yes, it will be. They will win the NL Wild Card with a record of 92-70. They will beat the Padres in 4 games in the divisional playoffs and beat the Cubs in 6 games to win the pennant. Then, they will beat the Indians in the World Series in 6 games.
