Don't get me wrong, I think Scorsese is brilliant. And I did like Raging Bull, I just didn't love it and I was actually kind of bored towards the end. So what's so great about it that it should be considered one of the best movies of all time? I thought Goodfellas was far better to be honest.

Obviously it is a matter of opinion, especially when you start dealing with a movie being "boring" or not. One man's empty room is another man's roller coaster. The thing that effects a lot of professional opinions on the matter, however, is the presentation, originality, acting, and technological innovation of the film. The fact is that a lot of things done in "Raging Bull" simply had never been done before. Whether or not that makes a movie great is a matter of opinion, but that is going to be a big presence in "Raging Bull's" corner when people start considering what movies are the best. In any case, on my own personal top 100, I have it ranked 80th.

The portrayal of Robert De Niro as Jake La Motta was one of the greatest acting performances of the past few decades. The use of black and white made the movie more nostalgic as the main character was basically revelling of his grand days of yore. Martin Scorsese is in his top form in this movie too. HIs dedication to show to the viewers of the complexities of his characters is evident. Cinematography is brilliant, and so is the writing.

Obviously, I loved the movie. I wish they would show more movies like this nowadays instead of movies that are overpowered by special effects, filled with terrible acting and one of the dumbest writing ever (ex. Fantastic Four...Silver Surfer).

Robert DeNiro!

this was one of the first movies that an actor went thru a major physical transformation, it is now common place for actors to gain/lose weight.

Also the unique cinematography
