I live in Iowa, and have no insurance, I have bipolar disorder, and can NOT go without my meds, I'm getting ready to run out. Does anyone know of any programs that I can apply for to cover medical expenses? I work full time, but through a temp service, so I'm not eligible for insurance through them. Any help would be great. Thanks so much!

You are eligible for programs to assist you with getting your meds for free or at a minimal costs. These programs probably differ from state to state. You can ask your doctor for an application to the manufacturer of the medication you are taking. Most cases you should be able to get your needed medication for free. Ask your doctor for sample packages, they usually distribute these when a patient is first prescribed a new med and the sample packs are in weekly dosages . Most times your doctor will give you these. Your doctor should be more understanding of your situation because these medications aren't cheep!

The state and county have mental health clinics that can give you some assistance in this matter.
