Crime and Love Stories eh?... I've got the perfect choice for you.

Try "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Seebold. It is about a young girl in the 70's who is murdered. That happeneds in the first chapter so I don't think I've given anything away (it's also on the back cover).

The book deals with her family growing up without her, her father's grief and his hunt for her killer, her crush and best friends growing up and getting to experience so many "Firsts" that she would never get the chance.

There is also a touch of supernatural, because the lives below are viewed by Susie (the girl) from her heaven.

It was so moving and honest, so I think you'll enjoy it. It's a great time to read it because Peter Jackson is going to direct a movie based on the book so you'll get to know the book BEFORE getting the movie.

Mary Higgins Clark has some great stories...usually they've got both crime & love stories intertwined...my faves are "Where Are The Children?", "Daddy's Little Girl," "Stillwatch," and "A Stranger is Watching." For love stories, I am re-reading Nora Robert's Quinn Brothers trilogy (Sea Swept, Rising Tides, Inner Harbor...) and I just love it.
I just got done reading "Christine Falls" by Benjamin Black and I really liked it...it's a mystery/detective story set in the 50's about the death in childbirth of this young girl...I couldn't put it down.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
Very good book! Its a coming of age story. I really connected with the main character and loved the book. Oh yea, its also written in all letters. He is writing his life to a complete stranger.

Right now I am reading Naked Lunch by William Burroughs. I have heard good things about it but so far can't get into it. So far all they have talked about is heroin.

Good Luck finding a book!

Maybe you should join a book club at http://dearreader.com/. They have different categories of book clubs you can join, depending on what you like. Basically they send you an email a day with an excert of a book. They do a new book every week. I've come across a lot of great books through it!

New Scots author called Stuart MacBride - anything by him and anything by another great Scot writer, Ian Rankin. A new book recently published by Peter Speigelman called "Red Cat" - very good indeed. I am now in the middle of Michael Connelly's "Overlook". Smashing.
