I injured my knee on the 7th of April. Every medical professional that has examined it has thought that it was injured so badly as to need replacement. But none of the tests have concurred. Even the MRI show nothing. It hurts quite badly, it even woke me up in the middle of the night and made me cry from the pain. I'm completely confused. It hurts and looks bad, but no one can find anything. Any ideas?

Peace

my primary doctor said that my entire knee will probably have to be replaced, and she was going to try and put me in hospital last night, 6-28. Now my ortho doc says it's arthritis. I don't buy it and have asked for a 2nd opinion. Now what do ya'll think?

If every doctor you're seeing isn't finding a cause, it's time for you to find a better physician.

I had a foot problem which also showed nothing on x-rays or MRI. But an orthopedics guy specializing in feet found the problem after a far more extensive set of x-rays. It's now corrected.

Ask around, or get online, seeking the best orthopedics doctor in your area. Consider subspecialties like knees or sports injuries, since the specific expertise and/or demands for high performance could serve you well. Willing to travel? Expand the search accordingly.

Depending on where you live, be prepared for a wait of months for a consultation appointment; there's a shortage of orthopods in the US.

In the meantime, see your doctor for better pain control meds. Any pain that wakes you needs attention, and pain that brings you to tears should not go untreated.

I hope you don't have this but ask about RSD. It is caused by an injury and causes a lot of pain. My cousin has it and apparently it came from an auto accident where she hurt her knee. It is not good and I sincerely hope you do not have it but you might want to ask about it just in case.

Get thee to another doctor. It sounds like serious bruising. As to how fast it is healing that depends on how often you use it, your age, and general health.
