I think they don't have a funeral. More than likely they just wish to be buried or they could always hold it at the funeral home.

They have memorials & are buried just like everyone else - a memorial can be held at a funeral home.

A memorial service at the funeral parlor or cemetery celebrating their life well lived...which is all we really know exists.

Thats up to their families and as most Atheists like myself will have religious family members it may still take place in a church, doesn't make a lot of difference to me as I'll be dead I'm hardly going to complain am I.

I don't know any athiests, but they should be shown some respect. Maybe a graveside service would be appropiate.
