Lots of birds will eat slugs. There are also many snakes (such as the friendly garden Garter Snake) as well as many larger beetles that eat slugs. While I don't care much for slugs, they do have a function. I understand the slime they produce is of interest to some scientist for medical use as well, though that may no longer be true.

Also, they are cheap entertainment for children...when they get into a Hosta bed (a landscape plant that is a favorite food for slugs)...send the kids out to pick them off. Slugs have the strange ability to fascinate kids for hours!

Which one is the biggest? Who can find the smallest? Which will win a "crawl" race? When the kids are done with their "toy" have them move the captured slugs to a "safe" area away from the Hosta bed or give the kids a bottle of vinegar or salt and really watch them go! A mean way to kill a slug I admit, but effective. And since they are so hard to kill off in a Hosta or planted area, at least this way is targeted and doesn't harm beneficial insects.

Not all animals r meant to be useful for human. The world does not exist only so that human could use it. Other animals feed upon slugs, u have no idea how much they are useful to everyone on this planet. And, still, some people DO eat slugs. I really hope I helped you._

In California, the banana slug eats poison oak. I think that's a good thing. All sorts of things eat slugs, and we eat some of the things that eat slugs, so it all adds up.

If you think slugs are ugly, remember they've got like a zillion eyes. How do you think you look to them?

A slug is a psychiatric tool introduced by god to fight depression in homo sapiens. Everytime you feel depressed, just go see a slug and see what a life it has and you thank god you are not it. you feel better and you believe god made you human cos you deserve better!!

every animal is useful.

what is the uase of a human?

we wreck the planet, have destroyed the natural balance, dont get me wrong - i ove humanity, but we are a TERRIBLE for nature compared to slugs.

slugs eat leaves by the way, so when they poo they release nitrogenous waste which is used by plants as fertiliser. Also they are eaten by birds, so are part of the food chain.
