I don't know the personal motivations of Ms. Blair, but I suspect that some people might feel comfortable with and agree with many aspects of the Catholic religion, but disagree with them on the subject of abortion. Although some people feel that it is necessary to agree with everything that one's religious doctrine says is true, many people disagree with this and will choose to stay with the religion due to their belief in its other precepts.

It is also possible that she continues to publicly portray herself as a Catholic for social or political reasons.

Whatever her motivations, I think that it is somewhat rude and reflects poorly upon you to call her a "wide mouthed frog". Even I normally maintain more taste than that when discussing political figures I dislike.

Christians especially, should be called "cafeteria Christians" because they pick and choose which of their chosen religion's teachings they will follow.
Stating that one is a member of a particular religion is insufficient to form an opinion about their personal beliefs that will almost always differ from formal dogma, much like feminism. Many feminists will state that there are many forms of feminism when the fact is, there is but one but the members accept or reject specific teachings within the issued tenets of it.

Not all Catholics believe life begins at conception. Maybe she believes that people have a choice even if it is a wrong one. No one has tried to outlaw adultery and I am sure that Catholic church frowns on it.

Maybe she is smart enough to realize that not everyone shares her religion and doesn't want to use her religious ideals to govern others. Separation of Church and State.

It's possible to be pro-choice and religious. She follows the command to "turn the other cheek."

She is probably quite sincere, but doesn't swallow the doctrines of unmarried men. It's quite reasonable.

"Soul gave me this box of emptiness.
What I say is one truth I know.
I go to neither side of any argument.
I stay in the center letting explanations rise from failure..."
