I am so happy you asked that question. My aviator changed in my Yahoo! email but not in my Yahoo! Q & A.

Make sure after you change your avatar you go the page that says edit avatar. The new avatar should be showing. Then click on the ok button. Also make sure that you hit save after you finish creating your new avatar. The save button that is right under the avatar on that page.
