Many are convinced they can bring down America and its allies the way they believe they brought down the Soviet Union. A U.S. withdrawal from Iraq would only strengthen this conviction. The militants would then be free to go for the jugular, attacking U.S. interests around the world, undermining the American economy and the economies of other Western nations. A U.S. withdrawal would be seen as a U.S. defeat, not only in the Middle East but around the globe.
Mr Ahmadinejad speaks on US invading Iraq.

Yes, it is real. It isn't just 9/11. People remember that because of the magnitude of the devastation. We should not forget the other incidents that have occurred such as this one:
"A car bomb exploded underneath the World Trade Center in New York on Friday, February 26, 1993 killing at least five people and injuring scores more. About 100,000 people work in and visit the 1,700ft towers every day - the blast happened at their busiest time. The bombing has shocked America which had seemed immune from acts of terrorism that have plagued other parts of the world. ......
In May 1994, four men - Mohammed Salameh, Nidal Ayyad, Mahmud Abouhalima and Ahmad Ajaj - were sentenced to life for bombing the World Trade Center. In October 1995 Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind cleric who preached at mosques in Brooklyn and Jersey City, was sentenced to life for masterminding the bombing."
I remember another one somewhere else but couldn't think of it to Google right at the moment. Smaller, yet still terrorist attacks on American soil. It is very real and a significant threat right here at home. There is always the excessive hype from the media and sources that will use something like this for their own personal gain and interests. This should not make the American people think any less of the actual threat that is out there.

That is where we as Americans are wrong about using that word threat- radical Islam is not a "threat" they are a "menace" and nothing more.
They are no-more then little sophisticated gangs of Middle East thugs, taxing the local merchants, dealing drugs to support their efforts, using fear amongst their neighbors, making innocent and non-supporters submit to their rules or risk reprisal, public assassination for the rebellious, vast and open practice of racism, and the list goes on.
They can be easily eliminated if people in their countries stood up for their rights to live happily and without dual governing. That would make the US job a lot more easier, but we deal with it and adapt to all situations and circumstances. We will prevail if not by popularity, then let it be known by numbers. That is where Americans have gone soft, it's when they hear the numbers, and the first anti-war activist cries is VIETNAM....this is not Vietnam....millions were killed there, its no comparison.
The radical Islam is being pampered by rules of engagement by the US and UN elite and that sh-it just needs to change. And when it does or when time sinks in and all eyes is off the ball........you may have a chance to scream VIETNAM!

They are a huge threat more-so now then ever because we are becoming even more complacent than we were before 9/11.
The beliefs of the radicals are in direct opposition to everything America stands for and if America falls it will be because of people who are more willing to give radicals rights than to its own citizens.
It isn't just America that is threatened. Every weak government that has a train or doubled bus blown up will capitulate to these savages and it directly affects the citizens of those nations as well as how they relate to America.
We need to always be vigilant and realize that if we don't put America first there will soon be no America as we remember it.

Radical Islamic terrorists ARE a very real threat, as was proven by 9/11. Foiled plots hit the news from time to and I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Unfortunately, radical islamics are easy to come by. Go to a poor islamic country to a down-on-his-luck islam, tell him that all of his problems are the fault of america. Tell him he can make a difference. Tell him he will be special and he will go to heaven and get lots of yummy, yummy virgins... if only he straps this bomb to himself and blow himself up. The poor dupe is already in misery, trying to make a living - the terrorist group trains him, feeds him, clothes him - and makes him feel like part of something larger than himself.
It's indoctrinating brain-washing at its best. And once they aren't afraid to die, they are 100 times more dangerous.
Yes... they are a big threat.

This is the biggest threat, even look at what European terror experts are showing for their continent. They will attack us again in our lifetime on the home soil of the US unless we can keep them so bottled up in the Middle East they have to stay there. And I do think the next time will make 9-11 look like a traffic accident , I think they intend to really hit us, probably again in multiple areas but along with something that has more lasting impact.

For those who don't believe they're a threat, maybe they should try living with the terrorists - let's see how long they live. I don't understand why people take freedom and safety for granted so often. It's like they live in some sort of bubble where reality doesn't exist and everyone is good. Ignorance is no longer an acceptable excuse, people.

Are we ignoring all the attacks on American soil already. I know the news media has. Why do we use terms like "sleeper cells" or "not if we will be attacked again but when"? Plus the attacks that were already attempted. Significant? Maybe not. But none the less still a threat. Lets just hope we can always stop them before their plans are carried out.

I believe they are a serious threat, America is an open and free society, and our openness makes us easy to be victimized.
CAIR is using money set aside to protect against islamic extremist attacks, to support their hidden agenda, which is not what that money was intended for, it was supposed to be to protect FROM Islmaic Extremists, not help them fund their private little terror cells.
To those that will call me a facist, so be it, but I think letting people set up shop down the road, preaching hatred and anarchy to our current form of organized religion and government need to be dealt with, not supported with my tax dollars!
Case in point, read, Teeth of the Tiger by Tom Clancy to see just how vulnerable we are in the USA.
Remember, Tom Clancy wrote Debt of Honor, wherein at the end a Japanese zealot crashes a 747 into the Capitol building, he wrote that book in the late 90s!
To sum up how I feel about CAIR, "How to Serve Man" - "IT'S A COOKBOOK, IT'S A COOKBOOK!!" The fact that they call themselves CAIR, CARE, come on people, they are preparing to "cook" us here. You that think I am being alarmist, remember that when you are executed for saying something against Muhammed or whatever 20 years from now.

of course they are a threat. not a day goes by that we dont hear of them blowing up someone, somewhere. i believe that it is not if they attack us here in the u.s., but when. last time i checked, it was the fastest growing religion in the world and for them, there is zero tolerance if your god is not allah.
why we just dont handle the war is beyond me. they use their own children as weapons or targets or shields, come on people, if thats not an insane tactic, i dont know what is! they never run out of hate for america or the western culture. look at britain.....they are handing over their country to the muslims on a silver platter. and if we allow it, the libs will do the same with the united states.
