I am the only user of my pc so I did not bother to create an account until my brother created an administrator account for himself. The problem is, I lost all my files and it shows in the control panel that my brother is the only user. He said that he did not erase my account. It simply disappeared together with my files when he created his account. Can I recover my files??? PLS HELP!!!!!

The easiest way is to get his password and use it to delete his account and reestablish yours. System recovery might work. Go back to a date before the account was established. You will lose what you have done in the meantime. A password hacking program might work. You need a good one. Some of them will find passwords except the administrators pssword.
Some files can be moved back to your account. But what a pain. There are other more drastic solutions. Try these first.

So, you've misplaced a file. It's easier to find than you think.
Do not change any setting or clearn Trash unless you locate your files they are still on pc.

Click the Start button and select Find or Search . A screen will open up that allows you to search for files.

To do a search, just type the name of the missing file in the " Named " box. If you're using XP, you'll need to click the "All files & folders item" and type what you're looking for into the " All or part of a file name " box.

If you're not sure what the name of the file is, you can use wildcards.

For example, say you're looking for a text file, but you aren't 100% sure of the file name. Type *.txt in the " Named " or " All or part of a file name " box. The * is a wildcard, meaning that as long as a file has an extension of .txt, it will be displayed.
