As for the person who didn't like you asking this question well in advance of Halloween - it just goes to show what she knows. A really great Halloween costume can take months to pull together & perfect, so you have time to tend to all of the small details that make it perfect - instead of having to do it all last minute!!

You can always check out the movies, your favorite books or tv shows for characters!! Shrek, Pirates, Nancy Drew - any of those will be popular this year. Fairies are always fun & there's a lot of varieties of them. My daughter was a mummy one year (she got tired of "pretty" costumes, she told me) & it was hand made & turned out really great!!!

I'm putting some websites on sources so you can look & get ideas....

Well it depend son what you like, fairies are good, original is always the best we once saw a snow man at halloween, our son was an elf once and a leprechaun; children's stories are good to use such as pippi long stocking or Hansel and gretel kind of things. It really depends on what the people like and what they are willing to dress up as. Just start looking for things that catch your eye now....remember it is halloween and it is supposed to be fun.

here is a few concepts: bo-peep a fairy a marionette doll (with the purple circle cheeks, curled hair, a flouncy gown, staggering eyelashes and strings linked of direction) a fb/myspace website (use cardboard) somebody from a definite term 50s,60s,70s,80s(very exciting!) or from medieval/rennaissance frequently frequently used fictional charachter or a fairytale character-Rapunzel, etc. This one is surprisingly cheesy yet one in all you may string small ceral packing boxes on somewhat rope then stick forks by using the packing boxes and placed on it around your neck (for this reason THE CEREAL Killer)get it?? Yeah that one may well be to "gay" for you (because 13yr olds who do matching costumes are) yet its in basic terms a guideline.

Since you are starting early, you can do some fancy stuff. I recommend you go to the fabric shop and look at the back of the pattern catalogs. They sell patterns for the most incredible costumes.

My favorite idea, if I was dressing a slim young lady who would look good in it, would be medieval or Renaissance costume. Be a fair maiden and let your date be a dragon! (Or a knight, if he insists. The dragon would be more fun, though.)

Nurse, mad scientist, Mother Nature, a fairy, angel, half angel -half devil, princess, bride.

There are many things you could be!
