I would say yes, but it on the upswing,,, they elected Carter, and Clinton,,,, not much of a bar there.
We should try to do better, for all our sakes.

Remember, our greatest President, Ronald Reagan, was a mediocre student, but a fantastic President. Ask any foreign leader who our best President in the last 50 years has been, and they will unanimously say Ronald Reagan. Reagan even impressed the French, no small accomplishment (compared to Clinton, who they dismissed as a charlatan).
You want a President with a good GPA? Re-elect Jimmy Carter, and watch our nation go down the tubes. Even Carter admits he was a dismal leader.
Kerry's GPA was lower than Bush's (by a hair).
How about that clever Al Gore! You know he almost flunked Natural Sciences in University?
How about George H. Bush Sr.? He tests much better than his son, but when he had the choice of going into Iraq and finishing the job, he wavered, even though he would have had practically unanimous international support for it.
A lot of brilliant inventors were people who did terribly in school. For example, Thomas Edison, inventor of the phonograph and light bulb was a bad student. He ended up being home taught at home. In school, Edison's mind often wandered, and his teacher called him "addled."
Bad student, probably would have been a fine President.

Now now, let's not generalize. One need not be an honor student to be an intelligent person and a good leader. Some of the biggest jokes I've ever known have been straight-A students.
However, many Americans become subject to the groupthink mentality and vote for whoever "feels right" rather than based on issues.

Because it was definitely a step up from the FELON the populace was stupid enough to elect twice before. Yes people, Bill Clinton was a FELON, pardoned by Jimmy Carter along with all the other cowardly draft dodgers. While George's Nat'l Guard time might not wow his critics, at least he didn't break the law.

The thing is, we don't know stuff like that about our presidents until AFTER they get elected. It would be good for them to make a resume with a transcript from their schools posted online during election... just like they were applying for a job at a company.

As a foreigner...you would not understand...it is not about the grades...book worms have been shown to be even worse at leadership as many lack the social and negotiation skills necessary
