Poisonous gossip, naysayers, negative comments about him,
advice that you should you leave him, would you put up with that indefinitely or would you give the people saying these things about your lifetime-love, a good strong right hook or a mouthful ?

Hell No!! If that's your man and you love him.....I mean REALLY Love him....and if he reciprocates that love....Then tell the HATERS to **** off....excuse my language.....but miserable people like to make you miserable too so that they're not the only ones.....You don't put up with that stuff.....Stand by your man rings true of the relationship is worth it

Just because I think I'm in love with someone, doesn't mean they are as great as I've built them up to be in my mind and heart.

I'd listen to what others said, look at what their angle might be (are they concerned for me or being malicious), and any questions I'd discuss with the guy. Communication is the key. I'm not prone to hasty actions and someone else's gossip or innuendo wouldn't have me making accusations toward him or starting a fight...I'd find out what was really going on, and go from there.

If all was well and others kept saying ugly things then I would tell them I wasn't going to listen to their trash anymore and either they'd stop or I'd stop being around them.

Where there is smoke, there is fire, right?
What comes up when he is badmouthed?
Put yourself in a third party situation and analyze every comment and make sure that if it's all true you would be able to live with it from now on.
What do you really expect from this relationship and what have you dreamed for yourself.
Honestly, was someone like him that you have dreamed to be hooked with?

The problem is that people don't know who the right friends are and the wrong ones. I don't think anyone "lets" someone wreck a relationship, it kinda just happens by keeping bad company.

No, I wouldn't listen to other people. If I didn't see it or hear it myself then I wouldn't put any thought into whatever it was people were saying. And if someone is stupid enough to come and try and screw it up let them they'll get what's coming to them.

Definitely give them a mouthful, then ignore them. If he is the One for you and you both know it. Just let them go.
