We have been looking at houses to buy, and have come across a few in a development that have this set-up. The toilet is inches away from the washing machine and I think it is just wrong! Do others agree, or am I being irrational?

I put my washer and dryer in the bathroom years ago and it is very handy after taking showers to just throw the soiled laundry directly into the washer without carrying it somewhere. However, "inches" from the toilet seems a bit crowded to me. What happens if you have a wide butt. I'd hate to constantly keep rubbing up against the washer or dryer. Washer and dryer in the bathroom is great, but that close to the toilet is something else.

That would not be acceptable to me. As far as Code goes, 15" from center of the toilet to any wall or fixture on each side is all that is required.

Personally I*m not too sure it would be sanitary.
Having your clean clothes in the same room where there are germs etc> I myself would pass on that setup.
