I am 23 years old with a bust size of 34 G, I was a C cup at 10, I have always had large breasts and to be honest I am sick and tired of them.

I went to the doctors 3 years ago with a BMI of 36 (15 stone) I spoke the surgeon and he said that my BMI would need to be 30 or less for me to be considered. I went back to the doctors 2 weeks ago and my BMI now is 29 but have been told that the NHS do not do breast reductions anymore. I am now 12 stone so lost the weight they wanted and now I have been rejected.

I am not doing it for vanity reasons, I have a severe bad back 98% of the time, burning in my neck and I have had a fungal infection underneath my breasts as well (not very nice) I know they will get bigger and I just do not know what to do.

I cannot afford £3,500 to have a reduction and to be honest can't afford to spend £35-£40 on bras that are strong enough to support me!!!

I need advise Please.....

I would guess that you are estrogen dominant

This implies that it will be difficult for you to lose weight and keep it off. If your body is still estrogen dominant it will convert any spare food energy to fat. That's just the way it works.

If you are estrogen dominant your breasts may be getting a message to "grow". If you restore your hormone balance my guess is that you may see some desired results.

You may wish to do the on line hormone tests at http://www.hormoneprofile.com or http://www.johnleemd.com

If as I suspect they recommend you obtain hormones please have a saliva test done see http://www.npis.info or http://www.salivatest.com. A saliva test will check out active hormones something that blood tests do not. The WHO (World Health Organisation) uses saliva tests.

If a hormone is suggested by the saliva test please take the dose suggested. Size 10 shoes are not twice as good if you have size 5 feet.

A transcript of a John Lee talk http://www.keepsmilin.com/transcriptdrlee.htm I have transcribed John Lee's December 2002 & June 2003 talks
http://uk.geocities.com/willim_walker@btinternet.com/willim_001
Any of these talks explain why for active hormone levels a blood test is worthless. Blood tests find hormones, but they are the ones on their way out of the body having done their work. They are not the active hormones.

I would rely on a saliva test to confirm the requirement for progesterone or any other hormones.

There is a list of doctors at http://www.npis.info who are aware of the benefits of natural progesterone they may be more helpful than your GP. Maybe you are about to educate your GP before using the hormones.

In countries other than the UK there are doctors knowledgeable about natural progesterone and other hormones

Natural progesterone means natural to humans i.e. identical to that produced by the human body.

For a good explanation of how vital natural progesterone is to humans see
http://www.hormoneprofile.com/howhormoneswork.htm
and other pages on this site

Wild yam is that Wild Yam the body will not convert it to progesterone. Also do not take fake/synthetic progesterone/progestins manufactured by the drug companies they will be of NO benefit.

After having done a saliva test I would suggest you talk to a doctor, one the NPIS ones or your own GP, before you buy progetrone which must be natural progesterone USP. USP means United States Pharmacopoeia.

If you skip to the end of http://uk.geocities.com/willim_walker@btinternet.com/willim_001.html there is a good summary -- 22 Susan Aschoff - St Petersburg Times Summary

When your hormone balance is better you''ll be healthier. All the best

Firstly, congratulations on you weight loss. This is an awful story and a real burden for. My mother had a breast reduction 3 years ago for the same reasons. She has severe back problems as she has osteoarthritis and was an FF cup. She faced the same problems eg;buying nice bras. i think you need to seek a second opinion. When you visit the Dr make a list of all the problems you are having. The consultation time is very short and you may forget important relevant details if you feel rushed. You have made every effort to do what they have asked. Tell your Dr that you want a referral to a specialist and don't take any nonsense from them. It can still be done on the NHS. It is the decision of the specialist not the GP.

Before I start this, let me just say - 32G, and surgery has never been an option for me, because I have a connective tissue disorder - I just wouldn't ever heal.

So I *do* know where you're coming from!

There are two parts to this question - first is the NHS unfair? Yep, so's everything else in life. There is no umpire, and the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under railway arches. You're poor, you're female and you have large breasts - the NHS is not the only thing stacked against you.

Pun totally intended! ;-))

Second part to this question is 'what do I do now?'. Well, you could take up Callanetics or Core Program, and do 20% more of the pectoral firming exercises than it says in the book. Only don't skip the other exercises to fit in the pectoral firming exercises - everything's connected to everything else, so you'll find you get the best results by doing everything the way it says, then adding a bit.

If you can't afford even one exercise book or DVD (and check out the second hand stuff on Amazon - some of it's cheap as chips) that's what your local library is for.

Don't do any exercise routine other than Callanetics or Core Program - there are 100 exercise routines out there designed by men who have never figured out that Women's Bodies Are Different - every one of which will break bits of you and make you feel even worse. You have been warned!

Pilates and Iyenga yoga are safe with an instructor who knows what he/ she is doing - but there, we're back to money. Callanetics & Core Program work better from books, which is by far the most cost-effective option.

Also, you have relatives, right? Friends? A partner? People who buy birthday presents & christmas presents for you? Visit your nearest *good* underwear store (locally, that's Amrit's in Erdington - people call her the bra doctor), and put together a wishlist, then hand the wishlist to the bossiest person in your family, and your bossiest friend. People like getting people stuff they need and covet - much better than getting them one more box of chocolates.

As well as getting bras, find a really saucy, beautiful, lace-up corset. They are so comfortable, you would not believe! And what they do for your outline has to be seen to be believed.

As far as the fungal infection goes, coconut oil is your friend - about a tablespoon a day should help your body balance out a bit better.

I live in Scotland, I am a nurse and have a friend who has just had a breast reduction done on the NHS. I think your GP is mistaken. Go back and ask again. Or you could phone your nearest hospital and ask for the name of a breast surgeon. Contact his/her secretary, who'll be able to tell you the truth. Good luck!

easily the folk with 6 young little ones thought is rubbish, like rather. a speedy Google exhibits me that the NHS expenses are in accordance with what must be completed, little ones under the age of 18 are loose as lengthy as they're in finished-time training. Direct quote from the NHS web site: "you're able to no longer be exempt from procuring NHS dental therapy seeing which you get carry of between the advantages under whilst paid on their own: disability earnings contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance contribution-based Employment and help Allowance disability dwelling Allowance Council Tax earnings Housing earnings Pension credit mark downs credit" even in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, as a pensioner you're able to have the skill to declare Pension credit, and hence be entitled for loose NHS dental care.

the nhs are crap in my opinion anyway ive got PID and they couldnt care less, all you can do is keep going back and not giving up until they actually do what they said they would. but to be completely honest with you hun, having them reduced will not get rid of the back pain as the damage is already done. a friend of mine had that problem and had hers reduced, but the back pain hasnt gone all these years later. so i wouldnt have it done just for those reasons. get a second opinion, or talk to your gp and see what they can advise you to do. i hope something gets sorted soon

You don’t need to exercise for hours on end. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results in case you work hard. Get a skipping rope, skip for two a few minutes, do push ups for 1 minute, skip for two minutes, rest first minute. Then change the push nearly something else like sit ups and also do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a quick, effective workout that will progress results than a long operate or swim.

It is now rare for reduction mammoplasty to be carried out on the NHS but not impossible. Ask your GP to enquire about initial specialist psychological assessment. After this has been carried out it may be possible to refer you to a plastic surgeon including the psychology report with the referral.

Thats a shame , but if the NHS don't do it now the only thing you can do is go private, you can get a loan over a long period so you will not be paying for it all at once,

Go back to your doctor and TELL him dont ask, that you would like the reduction you asked for 3yrs ago of which he asked you to lose weight for.....because of the health problems you are having associated with your norks I cannot see how he can refuse to refer you......if you have problems with him batter him with your boobs and then get a second opinion from another doctor preferebly a female one as they are a little bit more understanding!
