Sure- it's actually recommended, to help reduce pain from cramps, as well as PMS.

If your exercise is excessive (or overly strenuous), exercise, diet and stress can delay the onset of menstruation or alter cycles once they've been established. Gymnasts, ballerinas and others who exercise strenuously can sometimes delay the onset of their periods. This isn't generally considered dangerous or harmful.

Women who have their period can do whatever they want! However, I don't recommend swimming in a pool as it can be unsanitary.
It really depends on how you feel. I know when I get my period, I feel bloated and grumpy and the last thing I want to do is exercise.

Edit: exercise doesn't actually relieve pain. It helps prevent it if you exercise regularly. So, in other words, the more you exercise before your period, the less intense your cramps will be.

It definitely depends on the type of exercise and how heavy you flow, at what point you are at in your cycle and how prepared you are for an "emergency"! I would avoid Yoga, running, and strenuous exercise while you are heavy. If you get crampy, take midol, or advil or any type of pain reliever, you don't have to exercise for cramp relief, and besides risking a leak is very embarrassing! And if you are anemic, it's best to avoid exercise while on your menses, you are tired enough!!!!! Consult your Dr. he can give you the best advice based on your individual needs.

Yes you can exercise, if you go swimming make sure you wear a tampon though.

Some people say the exercise helps ease the cramps a little but personnaly I don;t believe it.

You can do anything you would normally do if you didn't have your period.

Exercise might actually help with your cramps.
