I agree, Jason. Have you heard the version of "Nothing Else Matters" by Gregorian? It will knock your socks off.

The question is, is it Metallica's greatest metal song. No. Nothing Else Matter's is a rock ballad. It is not metal by any stretch of the imagination. Sanitarium, Master of Puppets, or even St. Anger are far superior metal songs. My personal choice goes with St. Anger.

Not the best metal song ever...not even best Metallica's best.

As for the song, it is a metal ballad. Metallica moved from thrash metal to heavy metal in the 90s. Still metal and stuff to mosh to...but it's not the thrash style.

One of Metallica's most embarrassingly weak moments for me. That whole album was a sign of fatigue (& $ellout) to me.

Too wimpy. When I hear the name "Metallica", I think Metal, man! Not some half-azzed ballad. That song is the "metal" your grandparents could get into.

I liked -ONE- , That song is my favorite Metallica song. reason is the pumping double kick base drum that Lars kicks out. It also has a classical element to the guitar playing in the beginning. Best album was Justice for All by far. Just my opinion.

Every Metallica song is great. Nothing else matters is beautiful, but there are better than that, like "one", or from my point of view, My friend of misery is amazing! and so on...

Not even close- more like Whiplash, Seek & Destroy, Ride the Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Sanitarium, Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, & Last Caress/Green Hell.
