I think he'd rather retire and have played solely for the Astros than go to another team for a couple years.

We had to go out for frozen custard -- we HAD to -- so I put the XM in the car as not to miss the game. I'd had the game on the idiot box at home and knew he was sitting on 2999, and didn't want to miss it, just in case.
The bottom of the ninth was underway when we pulled into the parking lot. Biggio coming up; Milo was getting hypertense again, the background roar of the crowd growing.
And there it was! My Roady even had a special message where usually the score is displayed: "Bigg. 3000". Well, there's only so many characters in the window.
And then 3001.
And then 3002.
And then Lee ended it with a grand slam in the 11th.
Gripping game, thrilling baseball. Biggio's milestone, and overall 5-for-6 performance, was just pouring extra special sauce on top. Baseball like THAT produces champions... and I know the Astros aren't going to have many games like that for the rest of the season.
But how everyone got behind Bidge tonight was fantastic.
That was baseball. That was greatness. That was fun!
I'd predicted he'd get it on Friday the 29th. I'm delighted to be wrong. Some milestones just come 'n go, yay, but the game in which they arrive is, other than the big moment, mundane. Not so last night.
Congratulations, Biggio.

He and the Astros both had a great game last night. But overall Biggio's numbers have been relatively subpar. Unless either he or the Astros turn it around, I expect he will retire at the end of the year.
And even more sadly for Biggio fans, I think Mark Loretta will get more starts at second base once Adam Everett comes off the DL.

He will most definitely retire at the end of the year. He hung on this year to get his 3,000 hits and he's struggled mightily all season and the team has suffered partly because of that. By letting him chase the milestone, they have played him a lot more than they probably should have, given that Mark Loretta is a better hitter at this point of their careers. Sorry--the truth hurts sometimes.
Given all that, that was a great performance last night, especially his last hit where he busted down the line to beat the throw, which set up the big comeback for the 'Stros. He plays the game the right way and I respect that, and getting five hits on the night he passed 3,000 is the best way of accomplishing the feat.

Biggio reached the 3000 hit milestone and is to be congratulated. I always feel bad for a player like Biggio who gives his all in every game he plays, who performs well every year, and who never gets a chance to win a World Series ring. I think he will now retire at the end of this season.
Chow!!

Biggio is a great guy, great teammate, and a class act, every baseball fan should have a big smile on their face for his accomplishment no matter what team they pull for. Biggio is one of just a few players, playing today, where his entire career was with one team. I believe the Astros would never trade him and he will play out his career with them and someday be a solid canidate for the HOF.

he will probably rough it out but he is not getting any younger and that trip to the world series a couple years ago might be the last for him.
