That sounds more like stress or some kind of deficieny... maybe in vitamins, water, or protein. Do you use anything like hair gel, hair dye, hairspray, a blow dryer, curlers, or a hot iron of some kind? All of those things can cause damage to your hair.

Also, I don't know how old you are,but this might be just a normal part of the maturation process. Your hair kinda starts to go downhill after 30 or so.

It could be stress, or poor diet that can cause hair loss, especially if brittle and dry as well. Are you, or have you been pregnant recently? The body usually gives the little one's needs priority, and if you don't have enough, you'll miss out. If this is the case it usually grows back fairly quickly. Or female patterned baldness which is heredity.
Don't think that testosterone would cause it, but a simple blood test at the doctor's can rule that out.
A Doctor's visit should be your first port of call in any case.

I don't think it's testosterone. It might be the use of a hair product that does not suit you or stress. Some female may experience excessive hair loss called alopecia just like in males but it is not actually caused by testosterone level abnormality. Other symptoms of testosterone level abnormality would be, excessive growth of facial, pubic, axillary hair and abnormality in patterns of mestruation.
