The role of Planning/Strategic Planning?

Does anybody know of a site where i can get contributions on the Planning function in an organization? ---The concept, role, problems faced by the department & the personnel in the context of the orgn.

There are books written on this, I'd look up strategic planning in your library. I mean this is really general stuff, don't exactly need the web for it. Still here are 2 sites:
