one company ran my score 2 days ago, but i don't like what they are offering me. another company said they must run my credit so it'll be in their database in order for them to tell me what i qualify for. Is this wise to run my credit this close together? I'm afraid it will pull down my already low score.

Multiple queries over a short period of time -- normally about 30 days -- for the same type of credit product will not affect your score. They are treated as a single query.

Don't expect any low rate offers with your score, it's just not going to happen. You'll do much better renting for now and working on bring up that score by at least 100 points. At least another 150 points would be needed to get the best rates.

FYI, any mortgage lender can quote a rate without pulling your score and report if you let them know what your score is and what your credit profile looks like. It won't be binding on them until they do pull your report but if you're honest with them it won't change materially.

Stay in an apartment. Every viewing affects your score. I got this from a friend who is a bank lender. Get your score up. Keep track of it yourself. And do your homework on the different companies you may deal with. Don't let just anybody check your score before you check them.

you don't want to have to many hits on your credit file as it may lower your score. with a low score you may consider bringing it up before you try again.
