Yes.
Secularization forces different religions to work together rather than empirically commanding obedience to one ideal. There is lots more room for dissenting opinion without oppression. New and better ideas aren't immediately called heresies.

Yes, because religion could only lead to division,fanatism,separatism and intolerance of views or lifestyles that are holistic or different. If secularisation were adopted in the middle ages, then perhaps we wouldnt have had those destructive wars and misery. Politics and religion should never mix!
