The scriptures say that mind deludes and we have to escape from the clutches of the delusion. What will contribute to our escape from this Maya or delusion power of the mind?

Delusion comes from non-awareness. Buddha explained it in his 12-followings analogy. (I personally think... 5 followings would be enough, but) Through delusion you keep believe your ego is real you, and through ego you are strengthening your delusion. All came from one source, "not knowing the truth"
When I studied this teaching 4 years ago, I thought human kind is doomed! If enlightenment is the only solution, what kind of hope should we have, the not-enlightened 6 billion? Luckily, Sunim Thick Nhat Hahn gave me a great solution..

Just accept the fact you have a lot of delusion,
but focus on non-delusion.
You can have choice, if you take little time and patient for yourself,
and choose what you really want.

This is actually very practical method, I got a lot of benefit from his teachings. You can apply this method almost to anything, for example

If you are angry,
just accept you are full of anger. (Don't judge it's bad or suffer from thinking that you are making a sin)
If you are awake at that moment you'll be able to see you have a choice,
and choose non-anger instead of anger.
If you like you can choose to be happy, generous, graceful, love of god,
anything that helps you!

All things happen to teach us, and to bring us to the greater being,
keep your face up through the journey, my friend!!

An excellent question. I think the first step is to ask whether we want to escape the delusion. After all, delusions are often less painful than the truth.

Busyness/distraction is the ally of self delusion because it minimizes the opportunities to think and therefore one relies on feelings.

Maya Veeram ( The forces of Illusion )
Illusion in the world is as vast as the ocean.

Definitions:
Magic - The hand is quicker than the eye.
Illusion - The mind is quicker than the eye.

Mans mind is like that of a monkey, jumping here and there,
swinging from tree to tree and never being satisfied.
This thing in man called (Ego) has an insatiable hunger and will consume everything in its path. If man tells the ego it cannot have something it panics from fear of neglect and
causes untold pain to the human vessel it resides in.
Mans ego is what causes all the delusion that you are speaking of.

The mind of man needs to be taken to a nearby tree, bound and set aside for a while allowing man to intermingle with what is known as the Soul. This is the state where man is once again brought into his original form and in unity with the creator of all things. This process allows man to be a singular being no longer living in duality. This is where a true human being will find peace in their life.
This is where Compassion is born..........
This is where Humility is born............
This is where Justice and Truth are born............
This is where man will remember his true birthright.........
This is the meaning of life.

This is when man comes to an understanding that;
"God is within man and man is within God"
God-man man-God
A Fully Realized Human Being ..(Insan Kamil).....is born....

Delusion is a distorted reflection of Truth. Pattern recognition we call Reason is the guide away from this. Faith is also a path through which maya may be disolved.

Buddhism does the choice of escaping from the international ... you merge into the international and stay your existence greater brazenly and entirely, yet devoid of having "hooked" with the aid of aversion or attachment. for this reason such quite a number of existence-long priests are so non violent, laid-decrease back, and chortle so actually. Buddhism is a fashion of existence, and the mechanisms at the back of the practices are very resembling the mechanisms of cognitive-behavioral scientific care. different than that the scope of Buddhism deals with a a lot wider all-encompassing replace that CB scientific care, which actually focuses on only one particular habit to alter.

at times delusions result in the mind protecting its self from reality, in order to escape this one must have total openness with the mind and body and create an environment that is safe to the soul. our perception usually changes when we are honest with ourselves and are able to see things as we are, and the effect that has not just on us alone but with everything and anything...our society grooms us to live in a delusional world, makes it a very easy escape for all, and continues to feed on those who have not begun there travels to enlightenment...

When we have passed beyond individualisation (created by mind), then we shall be the real Person. Mind has been the helper in the journey...and mind would be the bar in final leap.

When we transcend the individual ego, and step into the Cosmic Consciousness.... everything will become Divine..

No maya, no jiva, no illusion, no Asat....all would be bathed in the divine bliss !!

It's ironic, but what worked for me was booze. Booze and drugs. These are usually used to hide from truth but, if consumed with the appropriate attitude, can provide inoculation against the pain of truth.
