Any Kind Of Music

My feeling is that if I like even one song, then I can't discount a type of music because there might be others out there that I would like if I heard them.

I would like to say I hate rap and hip hop, because I generally dislike both, but I have heard more than one song in each kind that I really liked, so I can't say I hate them (though I can say I hate that rap where they talk crap about women--those lyrics really tick me off.)

There are really only three types of music I have ever heard that I really, really dislike. One is a type of Mexican music. I don't know what it is called, but it usually has a very upbeat tempo, accordions, and horns of some type. Often, there is more than one voice singing the melody. I really, really hate it.

Another type is what is broadly called "easy listening" or sometimes "smooth jazz" here in the US. It has a broad range--everything from Kenny G to Anne Murray. I absolutely hate it--it has about as much interest to me as a bowl full of stale saltines in sour milk. It is supposed to be soothing, but it puts me right through the roof because I hate it so bad. I don't like it because it is so predictable--even when you hear a song for the first time, you know what the next note is going to be before you hear it. Also, the lyrics tend to be sappy and crappy.

The third is a weird kind of choral music--it is generally without lyrics, and rather just sounds, very fast-paced, and probably not experimental, but it sounds like an experiment gone horribly awry to me.

Other than that, I like most everything. I love rock in all its varieties and subgenres. I like R&B and soul. I like classical music. I like most ethnic music, regardless of where it comes from, but especially the stuff from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa. I even like a lot of top 40 pop junk. I would never buy it or load it on my Mp3 player, but I'll listen to it if it's playing someplace. Right now I am on a Motown kick--I keep downloading stuff like the Supremes. Yeah, music is good ;)

I hate RAP with a passion. A bunch of people getting rich off of music that makes no sense. I'd go as far to say it's worse than Kenny G in the dentists office.

I am genuinely open to all genres of music because there is great music in all genres. I've heard great rap songs i've heard great country songs, i've even heard great techno songs.

If you write off an entire genre you are not open minded enough to embrace music as the artform it is.

I hate heavy metal because it hurts my ears and I hate certain rap songs. You know the ones where you cannot understand what they are trying to say.
