perhaps mr travolta but news should be just that, Facts. The Fact that it slants and agendas are presented tarnishes it. There is an "eat there Own" mentality as well, Deans rant was fun news for a group that had already had another winner in mind. Hence the Overlooking of the truth on John Kerry.

You seem to think that there is something fair about the fairness doctrine. There is not. We can not even get a politician to question the Media because they are afraid they will be smeared if they do. The only voice that can be questioned is that of the right.
Thorgirl this is war also though there are no guns we fight with our voices and our votes to protect our country. We have allowed ourselves to be marginalized with double speak through years of complacency because we did not believe that any would really buy into the socialist movement. We are no longer complacent and our voices are not welcome. even those in the republican party do not like it when we speak. The citizens response to the immigration bill was a wake up for our elected official that they are not going to be our voice when they speak words we do not approve of.
There will be no fairness doctrine and there will be more action on the part of the citizens as we start to pay attention to what our government does.

I have been wondering all this time why, since the right loves to claim that Fox is balanced, whereas all of the other media is extreme left wing, they would be opposed to the fairness doctrine. Then two things occurred to me.
1. CNN and New York Times both endorsed Bush in 2000 - the left wing media thing is a myth
2. There is no bill before either house reinstating the fairness doctrine. This is just more Right Wing hysterical fear mongering to deflect debate away from thier failures.
As such I will not waste any more time on it but rather concentrate on real issues.

This is an example of a typical right-wing conspiracy. The mainstream media, the courts, the economists, historians, professors, universities, government organizations, and even scientific organizations are all apparently run by liberals.
It's always something with you cons.
There is a difference between regular media that tries to be objective versus the opinion media, where the pundits don't even hide their biases. They pick one side and bash the other. That's what talk radio and Fox News. It's one right-wing pundit after another.
If the mainstream media were so liberal, they would not have spent weeks on the Dean scream while spending less then a day on the Jeff Gannon scandal.

The problem is every congressional debate I have heard on this never acts like there is a liberal bias anywhere in news just a Conservative talk show bias. They all view the national media as completely on the level and never biased in reporting even when you show them the story content, the voting history of the journalists, and the lack of conservative topics.

I was in a meeting once with a bunch of Libs voting on a matter. When it was quite certain that 70% were voting in favor, the officers voted against it. It was later learned that the Officers Wanted it but wanted to give the impression that they sided with the Conservatives. If the vote was Closer they would have had to vote for it. CNN and The NY times supported Bush when 70% of there Holdings and associates commited to Kerry. wolves in sheeps clothing, real easy

Hey trovalta, you should search the news articles available on the internet and find out how many of them report on the document fraud and laundering committed through Jefferson's congressional office in New Orleans after Katrina. Do you see a pattern yet?

The amendment wasn't passed for now. Not sure where they are but plenty of liberal radio talk shows in my area as well as conservative. They are just upset that the truth came out about their amnesty bill by radio pundits and were trying to find a cloaked way for censorship. Sad really how in one instance they talk of freedom of speech and on the other try to control it.
Do like your idea though and since they (Dems) say they will bring it up again in '09 perhaps you should get ready to write some scripts for those shows! Copyright them now!

I agree! That's the first thing I thought of when I heard about it. The problem is the liberals don't think they are slanted, they just think they are right. Isn't that a hoot?

Once again, Sageandscholar is wrong! Where does this ultra-liberal buffoon get his false information from anyway?
As for the "Unfairness Doctrine", it is censorship plain and simple.
