Right, I did half a degree 3 years ago and dropped out as I didn't like the course or the university, I started a different course and a different uni, and I was asked to take an "intermission" (time out) this year (final/3rd year) by my tutor as I had a lot going on in personal life.
Having been away from uni, and being able to think about it, I'm begining to think I want to just start a career and get on the employment ladder (being at uni 5 years, now to be 6 drains the finances!) also I don't think I want to do this degree either. I'm doing a biology degree even though my strengths are languages, and I would rather work with languages.

So would it be better for me to drop out again, start working and do a part time degree in languages, or should I finish my final year (starting Sept) and just get a degree for the sake of having one and keeping my parents happy? Or shall I finish this one, start working and then look at doing another degree?

I'm so confused!! Please help :o(

You sound like you are letting other people guide you. You will have a living hell if you keep doing so. Living to please everyone else? Bad, bad idea.

Finish your degree, Income from a degree is much higher than without. Without a degree you are stuck working in places like McDonald's.

Get your degree, take a job in that field and then start on what you want to do.

Consider an on line coarse also.

The only advice I can give you is to follow through! It is nice to be interested in many things, but that will get you nowhere if you never follow through with any of them. You are setting yourself up for failure if you quit now. You will get into the career world and wish that you had finish. Sometimes it doesnt matter what your degee is in, employers just like to see that you have one (showing that you follow through and have the comitment to finish something you start) You are almost there and I would highly recommend finishing. Just suck it up and get it done! You will feel so much better if you complete what you came there for and then focus later on a new goal. Languages require a lot of school as well, and you will probably find that once you start something new you will get bored and quit again. So, keep at it and pretty soon you will have something to be proud of! Good LUCK!

why must everyone stop at one degree? why not 2 or even 3? if money is the issue, then complete the one that's almost done, then go out and get a job. then if time and finance permits, get the degree you have always wanted.

I think you should go ahead and get the degree. It's very hard to get back in the swing of things once you've been away for a while. And a college degree never hurts, even if it isn't in your area of expertise.

its just one more year right? if you can hack it and you have enough money i think you ought to persevere with the degree. you might kick yourself later if you take the easy way out.
