I have often come across this term “Contract Marriage”.
What is it all about, how does it work, under what circumstances does one go for it and is it acceptable / legal in India?

No as such contract marriage is not legal or acceptable in India. If you mean by this marriage for a limited purpose say just for the purpose of sex its not at all acceptable or legal, but if it is between a woman & man under the provision of any matrimonial enactment say Hindu Marriage Act,1955 between two Hindus or under the Special Marriage Act,1954 between any two Indian Citizens of any religion then such marriage has to continues for at least a year before the spouses can move the court for getting a divorce by mutual consent from such a marriage under the provision under which they got married, by this what I mean to say if these two agree to marry legally then such a marriage agreement has to continue for at least one year then only these two can go & end it by the decree of divorce by mutual consent which further may take 6 to 8 months to finalize, if you by any manner you call it contract marriage for a limited period.

I dont know if contract marriages are legal but definitely not acceptable in India. Moreover i think it against our culture. Marriage is a life long bond. Marriages are based on love and trust, I dont think they should be degraded by being "on contract". I think its materialistic. Please dont get into it.

Marriage is not a matter to book contract..
It is a relationship more than any relationships.
So dont play in that meaningful relationship.
It will suit for only cine actor or actress..
So just choose the best one for u..
And comfortable with him for ur life long.

Contract marriage is on paper only.
It is performed to seek certain results.
It is mostly used to seek a status in another country.
