Please look into listening to Doyle Bramhall II.

For starters, check his perfection in "Sessions for Robert J."
on DVD, with none other than Eric Clapton.

Once you've heard it, you'll feel almost sorry for
the ones you listed. I mean, ask them. They
themselves would agree.

For my personal taste, Jack White because he's a bluesman.

John Frusciante, because he's been playing for so long, he has the experience, but Jack White is close second. But John has the most experience.

I really like John F but I personally think that Robert Cray is the most versatile and musically talented. If you've never heard of him, I'm not suprised. The crowd he runs with includes Eric Clapton, Steve Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and B B King among others.
Give it a listen, you obviously appreciate talent.

John Mayer. That dude sounds like Stevie Ray when he lets loose. Too bad he's only recognized in the teenie-bop world.

Jack White. Very fresh, original style. Players like him don't come around very often.

hmmm.. modern guitarist?

Most of these musicians emulate retro-artists...

If I had to choose one, it would probably be 'Omar' because of his abstract playing style and use of a million effects-pedals.

My favorite out of the bunch is John Frusciante.

I think you left out 'Jonny Greenwood' of Radiohead. To me, he is by far the most inovative and influential guitar player of our time.

Thanks!
